Dr. Saad Saad has led a long, prestigious career and has served many as a pediatric surgeon. He was born in Palestine but moved to Kuwait after the formation of the state of Israel took place. His father encouraged him to get an education; telling him that this would be the only way to find respect in the world, and he, himself, realized the truth in his father’s statement after realizing he didn’t want to have to work outside in the hot sun of Kuwait. Instead, he decided to pursue a career as a surgeon and refined this down to being a pediatric surgeon as he wanted to help children.
Dr. Saad Saad is a example and inspiration to many refugees and others who come from third world countries or difficult beginnings. He rose up out of the ashes of his old life to pursue something greater, and he started by earning his degree from a medical school with honors. Saad Saad advice dictates that it is best to get something done today rather than to wait until tomorrow. He has followed this rule and has found that it has helped him to reach a level of success that he never would have thought possible as a youngster. This attitude is what led him to becoming a US Board Certified pediatric surgeon after coming to the U.S.A., and it has been a large part of his work ethic.
Dr. Saad Saad’s abilities led him to become the pediatric surgeon for the children of the Saudi Royal family. Specifically, his ability to speak, both, English and Arabic fluently combined with being a board certified pediatrician is what got him the job. He has also been an innovator in his field due to his ability to think outside of the box. This way of looking at the world allowed him to create a new procedure that eliminates having to make a second incision during certain surgical procedures done on children. This procedure has been used over 2,000 times during the course of his career and has spared many children unnecessary pain. If he could give his younger self a bit of advice, it would be that goals can be reached when a person works hard on accomplishing them. He is a firm believer that people can be whatever they want only if they set their mind to the task. He continues to be an example to the medical community, today.
